چکیده

Objective . The aim of the study was to evaluate effect medicinal plant extracts on insulin sensitivity in model diabetes mellitus. Material and Methods Experiments were carried out using 110 outbred white male rats. Diabetes mellitus induced by administration streptozotocin animals receiving food with a high fat content for formation resistance. injected metformin, rosiglitazone, aqueous nettle, dandelion, burdock, Galega officinalis. rats divided into two groups during pharmacotherapy: group 1 continued receive fat-enriched diet; 2 received regular diet 8% content. blood levels glucose, glycated hemoglobin, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol measured. metabolic index calculated assess Results nettle burdock reduced concentration glucose hemoglobin treated food. Dandelion extract did not change level fasting whereas it lowered glycohemoglobin. officinalis, dandelion concentrations normal diet. all plants hemoglobin. triglycerides normalized regardless when introduced. increased both diets officinalis extracts. 8%-fat differ from that intact after therapy alleviated resistance continuing enriched fats. Conclusion improved carbohydrate lipid metabolism caused same extent as metformin rosiglitazone. Extracts

Effect of Rhus Coriaria L on Glycemic Control and Insulin Resistance in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Objective: There are association between oxidative stress and incidence of some chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Food containing antioxidant compounds, such as some spices, are the natural ways to deal with oxidative stress. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of sumac powder (Rhus coriaria L) on the glycemic profile in patients with T2DM. Materials ...

Insulin effect on Leptin Concentration in Children with New Onset Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus

Objective: Serum Leptin concentration reflects the body fat mass. There is controversial reports about the insulin effect on serum Leptin concentration. We wanted to examine the effect of insulin therapy on serum Leptin in children with new onset type I diabetes. Materials and Methods: This was a Cross-Sectional study in Children's Medical Center on 34 children who had new onset type I diabe...

Disentangling the influence of insulin dependent diabetes mellitus on refraction.

The relation between the duration of insulin dependent, or juvenile onset, diabetes mellitus and changes in the refractive components of the eye undergoes a close and valuable assessment in the paper presented by Løgstrup et al in this month’s issue of the BJO (p 343). While it is known that the duration of diabetes has a marked eVect upon lens thickness 2 and the development of diabetic retino...

On diabetes: insulin resistance

Insulin is the most potent anabolic hormone known and is essential for appropriate tissue development, growth, and maintenance of whole-body glucose homeostasis. This hormone is secreted by the β cells of the pancreatic islets of Langerhans in response to increased circulating levels of glucose and amino acids after a meal. Insulin regulates glucose homeostasis at many sites, reducing hepatic g...

On diabetes: insulin resistance

The association of obesity with type 2 diabetes has been recognized for decades, and the major basis for this link is the ability of obesity to engender insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is a fundamental aspect of the etiology of type 2 diabetes and is also linked to a wide array of other pathophysiologic sequelae including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis (i.e., the metabolic...
